Houses, Condos, Rentals & Garages
Perlick, a family-owned company in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, builds commercial bar and beverage equipment as well as premium residential undercounter refrigerators, beverage centers, wine reserves and ice makers. We repair Perlick undercounter refrigeration, wine reserves and ice makers, diagnosing by model and serial number. Undercounter units depend on front ventilation, so we check airflow and condenser dust along with the controls.

From brass works to the home bar
Perlick began in Milwaukee in 1917 as a brass works and grew into a major name in bar and beverage equipment, including draft beer systems and underbar equipment for commercial bars. The company is still family-owned. Its residential line brings that background home with undercounter refrigerators, refrigerator and freezer drawers, wine reserves, beverage centers, beer dispensers and undercounter ice makers, in indoor and outdoor versions.
Perlick residential units are designed to sit flush in cabinetry and breathe through the front grille. Their stainless construction is durable, but like any undercounter refrigeration, their performance rises and falls with the airflow at the toe-kick and the cleanliness of the condenser behind it. In Las Vegas home bars, media rooms and backyard kitchens, that dependence is the starting point for diagnosis, before any part is suspected.
Undercounter refrigerators, drawers and wine reserves
When a Perlick refrigerator or wine reserve runs warm, start with the air. A front grille blocked by a rug, a decorative panel or years of dust forces the compressor to run longer for less cooling. Indoors, a unit installed without the specified clearance can overheat its own compartment. Outdoors, even an outdoor-rated model struggles when a west-facing island bakes in afternoon sun and the cabinet around it has no ventilation path.
Beyond airflow, common faults include a condenser or evaporator fan that has stopped, a defrost problem on auto-defrost models, a temperature sensor that has drifted, or a door or drawer gasket that no longer seals. Drawer models add slide and glide wear; a drawer that does not close fully lets warm air in all day. Wine reserves are particularly sensitive to swings, and a cabinet that wanders several degrees may have a sensor or control issue. We confirm temperatures with an independent probe before replacing controls.
Residential beer dispensers combine a small refrigerated cabinet with a CO2 tank, regulator, coupler and faucet. When the beer pours warm or foamy, check the cabinet temperature first, then the regulator setting and the condition of the lines. Many pour problems are pressure or cleanliness issues, and the refrigeration side only needs attention if the cabinet itself cannot hold its set temperature.
Undercounter ice makers and very hard water
Perlick undercounter ice makers need a water line and a drain, either gravity or pumped. Las Vegas water, at roughly 16 to 18 grains per gallon, puts scale on the evaporator and through the water system, slowing production and producing cloudy or poorly formed cubes. A filter with scale inhibition and the cleaning procedure in the owner's guide, done more often than the minimum, keep the machine productive.
Drain problems are a frequent service issue. A gravity drain without enough slope, or a drain pump that has failed or clogged with scale, lets water back up into the bin or onto the floor. Inlet valves can stick open or clog, causing overfill or slow fill, and bin sensors can fail so the machine stops early or overfills. In outdoor kitchens, heat and dust add load on the condenser, so an outdoor ice maker needs its grille cleaned more often.
Back-bar coolers and draft equipment
Perlick's commercial back-bar coolers, glass frosters and draft systems are common in Las Vegas bars, lounges and restaurants. Back-bar coolers live in warm, busy spaces with constant door openings and spilled drinks, and their condensers collect lint and sticky residue quickly. A cooler that cannot recover between rushes usually needs a clean condenser, a fresh gasket or a fan replaced before anything more serious is considered.
Draft complaints are often temperature or pressure problems rather than refrigeration failures. Foamy beer typically comes from warm lines, incorrect gas pressure or dirty lines; line cleaning is usually handled by a beverage service company. When the refrigeration side is at fault, the cooler's thermostat, fans and condenser are the first things to test.
What owners can check
With the power off, vacuum the front grille and the condenser area behind it, and keep the space in front of the grille clear. Check door and drawer gaskets for tears and make sure doors and drawers close fully. For ice makers, change the water filter on schedule, run the cleaning cycle, and pour a little water into the bin to confirm the drain is flowing. Outdoor units often sit on a GFCI outlet; after a monsoon storm, check whether it has tripped.
Perlick parts and the case for repair
Perlick parts come through a specialist channel and lead times vary by part. We identify the unit by model and serial number before ordering. We are an independent repair service, not affiliated with Perlick; units still under warranty should be serviced through Perlick's authorized network first.
Perlick units are well built and usually worth repairing, especially built-ins that would require cabinetry changes to replace. A sealed-system failure on an older unit is the main case where replacement deserves serious consideration, and even then the cost of reworking the cabinetry around a different-size replacement belongs in the comparison.
Looking for model numbers, recall notices or warranty registration? Those live on the manufacturer's own site: Perlick official site. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with Perlick.
