Houses, Condos, Rentals & Garages
Frigidaire is an American brand owned by Sweden's Electrolux since 1986. It sells a broad range of mid-priced refrigerators, freezers, ranges, dishwashers and laundry, including the Frigidaire Gallery and Professional lines. Frigidaire and Electrolux share many parts and platforms, which we account for when diagnosing by model and serial number. We repair Frigidaire refrigerators, freezers, ranges, dishwashers and laundry using genuine OEM parts when available.

Frigidaire in context
Frigidaire is owned by Sweden's Electrolux, and it is the group's main North American brand. Its range covers nearly every kitchen and laundry appliance: refrigerators of every configuration, freezers, ranges and wall ovens, cooktops, dishwashers, microwaves, and front-load and top-load laundry. Gallery and Professional are the step-up lines. Many Frigidaire products are priced for landlords, builders and value-conscious households.
That price position matters to repair. Frigidaire appliances use straightforward designs and widely stocked parts, so many repairs are quick. But because a replacement unit costs less than a premium brand's, the point where replacing makes more sense than repairing arrives earlier. A good technician lays out the honest numbers rather than pushing either way.
Frigidaire has a large installed base in rentals and condos across the valley, which means many Frigidaire units are well used by the time they need help.
For landlords and property managers, Frigidaire's ubiquity is useful. The same model often shows up across a complex or HOA community, so a known fault on one unit is a good clue to what will happen to the others. Keeping model and serial records for each unit makes ordering parts much faster.
Refrigerators and freezers: Frigidaire's core
Frigidaire refrigerators fail most often in the defrost and airflow systems. Older models use a mechanical defrost timer, while newer ones use an adaptive defrost control. A failed timer, control, heater or thermostat lets frost choke the evaporator, and the fresh-food side warms while the freezer stays cold. Evaporator fan motors fail and get noisy. Condenser fan motors fail, and the compressor overheats.
Door gaskets are a Frigidaire wear item, especially on heavily used units. A torn or flattened gasket lets warm air in, causing frost, sweating and long run times. Ice makers fail at the water valve, the fill tube and the module, and on some side-by-side and French-door models, ice buildup in the dispenser chute.
Frigidaire's upright and chest freezers are common second units. They're simple machines, and most faults are a thermostat, a defrost part on frost-free models, or a gasket.
Cooking, dishwashers and laundry
Frigidaire ranges and wall ovens commonly need bake or broil elements, oven temperature sensors, hot-surface igniters on gas models, and control boards. An F10 code on many Frigidaire ovens points at an over-temperature condition or a sensor problem. Surface elements and infinite switches fail on electric coil and radiant tops.
Frigidaire dishwashers have issues with drain pumps, inlet valves and control boards, and many newer models display codes such as i10 (fill), i20 (drain) and i30 (leak). Front-load washers suffer door-boot tears, door-lock faults, drain-pump clogs and, eventually, drum bearings. Many show E11 for a fill fault, E21 for a drain fault and E41 for a door problem. Dryers follow familiar patterns: thermal fuses, heating elements or gas igniters, belts and rollers.
Frigidaire microwaves, including over-the-range models, typically fail at the door switches, the magnetron, the high-voltage diode or the control panel. Microwaves store a dangerous charge in the high-voltage capacitor even when unplugged, so internal checks are never a do-it-yourself job.
Desert heat, dust and hard water
Frigidaire refrigerators and freezers are frequently installed in garages here. In summer, an uninsulated garage pushes well past the ambient temperatures most household units are designed for, and dust coats the condenser. The compressor runs constantly, gaskets work harder, and food warms. Freezers labeled for garage use cope better, but even they benefit from clean coils and shade.
Hard water around 16 to 18 grains per gallon clogs Frigidaire ice-maker valve screens, dishwasher inlet valves and washer inlet screens, and it leaves white film in dishwashers without rinse aid. Electronic controls on newer models can be upset by monsoon power events.
Owner checks for a Frigidaire
For a warm refrigerator, check the door seals by closing a sheet of paper in the door at several points. If it slides out easily, the gasket may be failing. Clear the vents inside and vacuum the condenser if it's accessible. For a freezer with heavy frost, check whether the door closes fully.
For a dryer that runs but doesn't heat, clean the lint screen, then disconnect the vent from the back and run the dryer briefly. If airflow out of the dryer is strong but the vent run is weak, the vent needs cleaning. If the dryer heats fine with the vent off, the restriction was the problem.
For an oven, test with an oven thermometer before assuming the thermostat is off. For a washer or dishwasher fill code, check the water supply and hoses. Unplug before removing panels.
Parts and repair-or-replace
Frigidaire parts are widely available and generally inexpensive, so most repairs aren't delayed by parts. Some control boards and model-specific trim take longer, and older boards may be discontinued.
Fans, gaskets, defrost parts, igniters, elements and pumps are worth replacing on most Frigidaire units. A sealed-system failure on an older, low-cost refrigerator usually tips the decision toward replacement. We're an independent repair service, not affiliated with Frigidaire or Electrolux. Warranty work on a unit still under manufacturer warranty should go through Frigidaire first.
