Houses, Condos, Rentals & Garages
Asko is a Swedish brand building dishwashers, washers and dryers with heavy steel construction. Its dishwashers use stainless steel inner parts, and its compact 24-inch laundry pairs are a common choice for condos and stacked closets. We diagnose Asko dishwashers and laundry by model and serial number, reading fault codes before testing pumps, valves and bearings. Genuine Asko OEM parts are used when available.

Scandinavian design with stainless where others use plastic
Asko is a Swedish brand from Vara, known for dishwashers and compact laundry. It became part of Slovenia's Gorenje in 2010, and Gorenje has been owned by Hisense since 2018. In the U.S., Asko is best known for its dishwashers, with washers and dryers in European widths also sold here.
Asko has long emphasized stainless steel where many brands use plastic: its dishwasher tubs, inner doors and many spray components, and the outer drum on its washers. Stainless resists the corrosion and cracking that end the life of many plastic-tub machines, so an older Asko often has a sound body even when a pump or valve has failed. That changes the economics. With the structure intact, replacing a worn part is more often worth it.
Asko dishwashers are built around a low-noise, heavily insulated chassis and multiple spray levels, and some models have Asko's Turbo Combi drying, which combines heat and a fan to move moist air.
That heavier construction has a side effect for service. Asko dishwashers are dense, well-insulated machines, and pulling one out of its cabinet takes care so the floor, the hoses and the adjacent cabinetry aren't damaged. Many repairs, such as pump, filter and inlet-valve work, can be done from the front or the base without removing the machine entirely.
Dishwasher faults to know
Drainage problems are the most common Asko dishwasher complaint. A clogged filter, a blocked drain pump, a kinked drain hose or a disposal knockout plug can all stop the machine draining. Asko dishwashers monitor water levels closely and will stop and display a fault, or flash lights in a pattern, when the drain doesn't complete in time.
Door hinge assemblies are a known wear area on some Asko models. Springs or cables that counterbalance the door can stretch or break, and the door drops open or won't stay in position. Other common parts include inlet valves, heating elements, circulation pumps, door seals and control boards.
Asko dishwashers also have a leak-protection system in the base. If water collects there, a float trips, the machine stops filling and the drain pump runs. That's a symptom, and the leak source has to be found.
Washers and dryers
Asko front-load washers are typically narrower European designs, and their common service items are drain pumps and filters, door seals, door locks, inlet valves and, eventually, bearings. Asko dryers include vented, condenser and heat-pump designs. Condenser and heat-pump dryers recirculate air through a heat exchanger and collect water in a container or pump it to a drain, so their lint filters and condensers need regular cleaning or drying times stretch out and the machine reports airflow faults.
Compact European laundry also runs at higher spin speeds than many American top-loaders, so a washer that isn't level or sits on a flexing floor will walk and vibrate. Leveling the feet and checking that shipping bolts were removed at installation solve a surprising number of noise complaints. Persistent rumbling at spin, on the other hand, points to bearings.
Hard water, dust and heat in the valley
At roughly 16 to 18 grains per gallon, valley water scales Asko dishwasher heating elements and spray arms, clogs inlet screens, and leaves a white film on glassware. Rinse aid helps a lot, and an occasional descaling cycle with a dishwasher cleaner keeps scale from building. If your model offers a water-hardness setting, set it to match local water.
For laundry, condenser and heat-pump dryers in dusty homes load their filters faster. Installed in a hot garage, any dryer runs at higher temperatures, and a ventless dryer's heat exchange is less efficient. Electronic controls appreciate surge protection during monsoon storms.
Before the technician arrives
For a dishwasher that won't drain, turn it off, remove and clean the filter, check the sump for glass or debris, and inspect the drain hose under the sink. Clear the disposal, and on a new install, confirm the knockout plug was removed. If the door drops open or feels unbalanced, stop using it heavily until the hinge springs or cables are checked.
For a dryer that takes too long, clean the lint filters and condenser per the manual. For a washer, clean the drain-pump filter with the machine unplugged and a pan ready. Turn off power and water before removing panels.
Parts lead times and the value of a stainless machine
Asko parts are imported, and lead times are moderate to long depending on the part. Common pumps, valves and filters are easier to find than control boards and model-specific hinge or door parts. The exact model and serial number, usually on the dishwasher door edge or inside the washer door frame, avoid ordering the wrong version.
With a stainless tub and a sound frame, an Asko is often worth repairing even when it isn't new. A failed control board on an older unit is a closer call, depending on availability. We're an independent repair service, not affiliated with Asko or Hisense. Warranty work on a unit still under manufacturer warranty should go through Asko first.
Looking for model numbers, recall notices or warranty registration? Those live on the manufacturer's own site: Asko official site. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with Asko.
