Are you an authorized Miele service provider?

No. We're an independent repair service, not affiliated with Miele. If your Miele appliance is still under the manufacturer's warranty, check with Miele first; once it's out of warranty, we diagnose it by model and serial number and use genuine OEM parts when they're available.

Can a compact freezer go in a condo closet?

Only with the ventilation its manual requires. Freezers release heat through coils on the back or sides, and a closed closet traps it. Leave the clearance the manual lists and keep the door open or louvered. A freezer that runs constantly in a closet may simply be starved of air.

My induction cooktop won't recognize a pan. Is it broken?

Check the cookware first. Induction needs cookware with a magnetic base, and a fridge magnet that slides off the bottom means the pan won't heat. Pans much smaller than the zone may not register either. If proper cookware still isn't detected, a sensor or board fault is possible and worth diagnosing.

Can you repair a built-in wine cooler in a condo?

Yes. Built-in units slide out of their opening for service, so clear floor space in front of the cabinet. Send the model and serial ahead, since sensors, fans and boards are specific to each model.

Miele Cooktops

An induction cooktop in an updated condo might shut off a zone after a few minutes of searing and flash an overheating code. The pan seems fine, and the other zones work. A cooling fan clogged with grease and dust can let the electronics overheat, or an inverter board may be starting to fail. Cleaning the air intake, where it's accessible, comes first; persistent errors call for a diagnosis.

Miele Wine Coolers

Clean the front grille of a built-in cooler before the appointment, and jot down the brand, model and serial printed on its interior tag. Have a plan for the bottles, since many repairs require emptying the cooler. Condo residents should check any HOA vendor rules ahead of time. In older homes, mention whether the cooler shares a circuit with other appliances, because nuisance breaker trips can mimic a fault.

About Miele

Miele is a German, family-owned manufacturer based in Gütersloh, and it builds appliances on a different premise from most brands. Miele says it tests its products to the equivalent of 20 years of use, and it supports spare parts for many years after a model ends production, typically up to 15 years by Miele's own description. Its U.S. lineup includes dishwashers, front-load washers and heat-pump dryers, wall ovens, steam and speed ovens, ranges and cooktops, built-in refrigerators and freezers, and wine storage.

Houses, Condos, Rentals & Garages

A Paradise garage in July can climb well past the ambient range many standard freezers are designed for, and many houses have little insulation in garage walls or doors. The compressor runs almost constantly, dust coats the coils and gaskets harden. In a closet, the trouble is trapped heat, with the freezer breathing its own warm exhaust. Both situations shorten compressor life and raise the odds of a breakdown.
