Is a slide-in range harder to repair than a freestanding one?

Slightly. Slide-ins sit flush with the counters and may need trim removed and careful handling to pull forward without scratching countertops or flooring. Once the range is out, the repair process is much the same. Clear the area in front and empty the drawer before the visit.

Can one oven of a double wall unit be repaired separately?

Usually, yes. Each oven has its own elements, sensors and often its own relays, so a diagnosis isolates which component failed and the working oven is left alone. Some double ovens share a control board, which gets tested if both cavities show symptoms at the same time.
