Many newer dishwashers dry with residual heat and rinse aid rather than an exposed heating element, so an empty rinse aid dispenser often explains wet dishes. Plastic items dry poorly in these designs. If dishes stay wet with rinse aid filled, the heater, a fan or a sensor may need diagnosis.

Steam ovens rely on a water reservoir or a plumbed line, and Henderson's hard water can scale their boilers, pumps and sensors. Descale the oven following the manufacturer's instructions and refill the tank. If the error persists, book a diagnosis with the model number at hand.

For a basic countertop model, replacement is usually the more sensible choice. Built-in, drawer and over-the-range models are more often worth fixing because of the mounting and matching involved. If yours is a higher-end convection countertop unit, a diagnosis can help you decide.
