About Roper Washer Repair

Roper builds its washers around top-load agitator designs with mechanical timers, and that design decides where faults tend to appear. Roper machines are mechanically simple, and most repairs involve inexpensive, widely shared Whirlpool parts.

A tub full of water at the end of the cycle is a common complaint, and on Roper units it typically comes down to a clogged drain pump filter, a kinked drain hose or a failed drain pump. With Roper washers, a full tub that never starts spinning most often means a lid switch or door lock that isn't confirming, an off-balance load or a worn belt or motor coupling. Slow filling or a fill error on a Roper washer generally traces back to inlet hose screens clogged with mineral scale or a weak water valve. Beyond the faults every washer shares, Roper models have their own weak spots: lid switch faults, timer faults and belt and coupling wear.

With a Roper washer, start with the simple things. Check that the drain hose isn't pushed too far into the standpipe or kinked behind the machine. On a front-loader, drain and clean the pump filter behind the small access panel, with towels down first. Use only the HE detergent dose the machine calls for; extra suds cause errors of their own. Unplug the washer and shut off the water before pulling it out or opening any panel.

Roper washers in the Las Vegas Valley deal with conditions the owner's manual barely mentions. NV Energy outages during summer monsoon storms are usually short, but the surge when power returns is hard on control boards, and a washer that shows an error right after a storm should be reset before anything else. Plenty of valley homes have laundry in or beside the garage, where summer heat ages rubber fill hoses faster; braided stainless hoses are the better choice.

Roper parts are largely shared with Whirlpool and easy to find. Every Roper washer diagnosis starts from the model and serial number, because part numbers can change within a single model family; the part is confirmed by testing before it is ordered. A Roper washer costs less to replace than most, so repair makes sense mainly when the fault is a modest part — lid switches, pumps and belts — on an otherwise healthy machine. When the numbers don't add up, we'll say so.

We repair Roper washers throughout the south and southwest Las Vegas Valley, including Green Valley, Southern Highlands and Silverado Ranch. Book online or call us about the washer; same-day appointments are often available when booked early. If the washer is still under Roper's own warranty, check with the manufacturer first — otherwise our repairs come with 90 days on parts and 30 days on labor.
